I was at a party last weekend with some really close friends, and my ADHD was brought up. No problem, I’m really open about it & they all know that I take vyvanse otherwise I literally cannot function as an adult. One of my absolute best friends made the comment that it was just prescription meth. Other friends agreed. The worst part? She’s an RN.I was close to tears, having to defend the medication that has saved my life, to someone in the health care profession. If a close friend, who is otherwise a super reasonable, intelligent, educated person, thinks this, how many other health care professionals share the same opinion? The pharmacist I pick my medication up from? The nurse taking my blood pressure at my monthly appointment? My employer who is aware of my ADHD and that I take a medication? (I work in mental health care, I disclosed this information willingly due to drug testing) My PRESCRIBER?Sorry guys, I just really needed to vent to people who GET it. via /r/ADHD https://ift.tt/36lueHJ
